Who we are
The Therapy Works Counselling ("we", "us") provides professional counselling for adults, online across the UK and in person in Yorkshire. This policy explains what happens to personal information you share through this website, therapyworkscounselling.co.uk.
What we collect, and why
The only personal information this website collects is what you choose to send us through the contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), preferred contact method and your message.
We use it for one purpose: to read and respond to your enquiry. We do not use it for marketing, we do not add you to mailing lists, and we never sell or share it with third parties for their own purposes.
Where your enquiry goes
When you submit the contact form, your message is delivered to the practice's email inbox using an email delivery service (Resend). The website itself does not keep a copy of your message in a database. Enquiry emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up conversation.
Spam protection
The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which helps us tell genuine messages from automated spam. Google may collect technical information about your device and how you interact with the page to make that assessment. This is covered by the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Hosting and technical data
This website is hosted by Netlify. Like most hosting providers, Netlify processes basic technical information (such as your IP address) to deliver the site securely and reliably. The site also loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google's servers when a page loads.
Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — for example, which pages are read most and how people find us. This helps us improve the website. The information is aggregated and does not tell us who you are.
Analytics only runs if you accept it. When you first visit, a cookie banner asks whether you are happy for analytics cookies to be set. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are stored and no analytics data about your visit is collected. You can change your choice at any time on the Cookie Policy page.
Google's processing of analytics data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. We do not use the data for advertising, and we do not run any advertising tracking on this site.
Counselling records
This policy covers the website only. If you become a client, how your counselling records are kept, and the confidentiality that protects what you share in sessions, is explained separately in the counselling agreement you receive before sessions begin.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
To exercise any of these rights, get in touch via the contact page. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how this website handles personal information, we will update this page and the date below.
